Zeus’ Final Farewell

Last Saturday I had the bittersweet pleasure of spending the afternoon with Zeus, a German Shepard and his family at the park by their house. I was so sad to get a call from Zeus’ “mom” last week explaining that he needed to be put down due to severe spinal and neurological issues. These photo shoots are the hardest, but they also turn out to be the most rewarding because you know you are giving a family a priceless gift.

Zeus was a trooper. He was able to sit for a little over an hour for pictures before heading back to the car wanting to go home. He didn’t have much mobility, but I could see the joy in his eyes even when he was hurting. I could tell by the pictures of him with his “brother” and “mom” that they would miss him very much. There was love in everyone’s eyes. I was also very sad to hear that the husband of the family is stationed in Iraq and would not be able to come home to say goodbye to his long-time friend. Zeus was extra special to this family because he was their first rescue (they have also rescued 3 more since adopting him). I could tell he was grateful for the love and kindness his family had given him and that he had led a good life. We held it together during the shoot, but after we got back in the car, my wife and I had a very sad moment. We thought of the two pets we have recently lost and of Zeus and his family.

I consider myself lucky to be a part of Zeus’ final days and wish his family comfort in this time of sadness.

Muphy – Patriotic Yorkie-Poo

World, meet Murphy. He is an 8-month-old Yorkshire-Poodle mix with an endless amount of energy. All he wants to do is play. He has this patriotic rope toy that he loves so much, it never leaves his side. It was literally in every photo I took, so I started Photoshopping it out.

Murph, you are the coolest. Thank you for a fun Saturday!

Chase the Beagle Mix

Hello everyone, this is Chase. He is a Beagle mix and is named after one of the characters on the TV show House.

Chase is one of the most timid and goosey dogs I have ever met. It took almost a half an hour till he warmed up to me enough to let me touch him. WOW. It took a long time and a lot of treats till Chase and I were the best of friends. He took us on journey through Bonelli Park in San Dimas and boy he does not tire.

Thanks Chase for a wonderful photoshoot.

Chase has this thing with rocks and sticks.
